Heavy rains and floods have caused severe damage in the Godavari catchment areas. The people of the joint districts of Nizamabad, Khammam, and Warangal, who have been affected by floods so far, are now wrestling with mud. One by one, people leaving the rehabilitation centers are greeted by mud on their way home. People are trying to remove it and clean the things in the house.
People in the villages of Wajedu Venkatapuram Mandal of Mulugu district are unable to bear the sight of their houses after the flood. The walls were crumbling and the furniture was covered with mud. All those who came out with bandaged clothes and now went home with hardships are facing severe difficulties. They complain that there is no good water, food supplies, or electricity, and snakes and scorpions are appearing in houses due to the flood. People are also bashing the politicians who appeared during the floods but disappeared altogether post the rains.
Many villages in Burgampadu, Bhadrachalam, and Ashwapuram mandals of the Bhadradri district were inundated. The alluvium and mud that washed away with the flood consumed the villages. The victims are now in tears seeing their homes messed up. They are weeping as if they have lost everything except their lives. Officials have moved the people of the flooded areas of 11 mandals of Bhadradri Kothagudem district to resettlement camps. As the flood has slowed down a little, people are gradually reaching their homes, taking food and removing the mud from their houses.
Due to the rotting trees, animals, fish carcasses, and other waste the floods brought in, the inundated areas have a stench. 90 percent of the people in the flooded area lost their personal property. As the flood was receding, they went to the rehabilitation centers with only clothes and valuables. Due to this, other things in the houses were washed away in the mud. This is the situation in all the flooded villages.
