Thalapathy Vijay’s Diwali release ‘Bigil’ which has grossed more than Rs 300 crores worldwide is now stuck in a civil court case regarding its digital release on Amazon Prime. Dubbed as ‘Whistle’ in Telugu, the Vijay and Nayanthara starrer was expected to premiere on Amazon Prime on December 13 but was stalled due to the interim injunction order issued by Hyderabad civil court.
Into details, Hyderabad-based filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar filed a lawsuit against the ‘Whistle’ team including the main lead Vijay recently. In his petition, Nandi Chinni Kumar accused that the storyline of the film is similar to the life of slum football player Akhilesh Paul upon which he had acquired the exclusive copyrights in the year 2018. The petitioner also stated that he has approached the Telangana Cinema Writers Association in September citing the same. The ‘Whistle’ team is yet to respond on this issue while Vijay is currently shooting for Thalapathy 64 with the ‘Kaithi’ director Lokesh Kanagaraj in Delhi and Atlee is all busy penning down his next script for Vijay again.
