Least did the citizens expected that the Biodiversity Junction flyover taken up to ease the traffic would turn into the way to hell. Not even fifteen days after the 990-meter long flyover was turned open for the public, it recorded three major accidents taking lives and injuring some to death. Hours after another major accident of Volkswagen GT car overshooting the flyover, a blame game of sorts started between the trio commuters-private construction firm-government. While the commuters blamed the government and private construction firm for the fault in the design, GHMC backed by the government biggies denied the design flaw. Who’s ever the fault is, commuters have been the ultimate victims. But isn’t it the responsibility of the government to face the citizen and be answerable.
While the government is all busy to put Telugu state under the delusion that it was the ultimate fault of the commuters who rode with overspeed, it didn’t take much time for the media to dive in to dig the truths behind the deaths. Did the government and private construction company change the flyover design to fill their pockets? Who are the people behind this? Didn’t GHMC know that the commuters’ lives are at risk? Is it really overspeed that took the lives so far? There are hundreds of questions around which are left unanswered.
The main allegation is that the original flyover design didn’t have any swift curves and was ultimately changed to save the properties of My Home, the loyalist of KCR. As the media tried to approach the GHMC officials, they just snubbed the allegations stating that the duty was just to scale the speed, and book cases if it is noticed to exceed 40 KMPH. They also tried to cover up that the curve is not a deep one when compared to many others in the city and they have put up caution boards all over the flyover. Upon a detailed study, it was evident that the engineers had previously designed a perfect plan which would apparently cause huge loss to My Home. After which, the engineers were forced to change the plan which is now taking the lives of many.
