Surendra Babu, the Managing Director for Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has been transferred out on Wednesday without any further posting. The senior bureaucrat was asked to report to the Director-General of Police (DGP). This assumed significance as the government has invited tenders for buying electric buses a few hours after the hasty transfer. This abrupt decision taken by the government has kicked up a big debate in political circles.
Known to be one of the few focused and committed bureaucrats, Surendra Babu has taken major administrative decisions for the welfare of employees during his tenure. On this note, speculations are rife as of why government transferred such sincere officer. Pertaining to the consequences followed, Megha Krishna Reddy is the first being alleged. If the allegations made by the TDP leaders are to be believed, Megha company which acquired the Polavaram contract has played a crucial role behind this transfer. Olectra Greentech Limited one of companies led by Megha Krishna Reddy has made a tie-up with a China-based company BYD Auto Co., Ltd and is apparently in the pre-bid race. The alleged team might has apparently planned this transfer to get rid of Surendra Babu, the so-called obstacle.
