West Zone DCP Joel Davis held a media conference on the Jubileehills Pub incident. Speaking to the media, he said that it is unfortunate that the incident took place and a case has been registered under IPC 9 and 10 Posco Act 354. He said the investigation was started after the case was registered and he spoke after the girl recovered. He said she had bruises on her neck and could not be identified four days after the incident.
The DCP said that only one person’s name was mentioned and that the case was being investigated from all angles. A total of five accused have been identified. Two of them are majors and the rest are minors. He said Umar was arrested along with Malik and the other accused would be arrested in another 48 hours. He said he would make a statement after the girl recovered and continue the investigation. He also clarified that no matter who it is they will be severely punished, adding that it is untrue that the Home Minister’s grandson is involved in it.
The DCP, who had thoroughly examined the CCTV footage, said the home minister’s grandson was not seen anywhere. He mentioned that the presence of the chairman of the work board, Bahadurpura MLA’s son was also just speculation and is not confirmed yet. DCP added that an investigation is underway into the alleged presence of the son of a movie celebrity.
He said all the accused had gone to different areas, adding that the girl was taken along with five boys in the Innova vehicle where they tried to rape her. He explained that there was some delay in collecting the details as the girl was not in good health. The DCP, however, did not comment on the ownership of the Innova.
