Is the father-son duo influencing T-politics to the extent that the ministers in the cabinet have become just puppets? Is KCR now on recoil mode regarding his nephew Harish Rao, who is once his confidant? Yes, say the political analysts upon the supremo’s decision of constraining the power of Harish Rao, the Minister for Finance.
After a series of speculations and handful of situations which brought in pressure, CM KCR, however, took Harish Rao into the cabinet. Seems like this move was not out of the trust on his nephew but few inevitable situations around. Allotting Harish Rao with Finance department yet excluding planning from his duties has added to the speculations. Planning is an integral part of the portfolio and the two departments have been close to the finance minister so far, though they are different. In contrary, KCR has decided to separate them in Harish Rao’s case, appointing former MP Vinod as the Vice President of the Planning Commission. This drew much flak from followers of the Minister who accused that this was a deliberate move to crackdown Harish’s growing popularity.
It is a known fact that Finance is one of the vigilant portfolios which needs a track of regular economic activity and state treasury fluctuations. Allocating Harish with such department will accomplish two main agendas. One, to keep Harish completely engrossed in his departmental affairs and two, to keep him away from active on-field politics.
Well, let’s wait and see if Harish Rao gets trapped in KCR’s political Shasiyantra.
