Taking the total caseload in the country to 24,61,190 India on Friday recorded over 64,000 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours. This number includes cases involves foreign nationals, patients who have recovered and the death toll. With over 1,000 fatalities reported on Thursday, the country’s death toll surged to 48,040.
According to the recent data from the Union Health Ministry, the reported active COVID-19 cases in India now stand at 6,61,595 while as many as 17,51,555 COVID-19 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated.
On a positive note, recovery rate rises to 70.77 per cent, a record high of over 8.3 lakh tests conducted in a day, says the government.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 2,76,94,416 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till yesterday (August 13). Of these, 8,48,728 were tested yesterday. Meanwhile, as many as 20,850,734 people around the world have been diagnosed with Covid-19. While more than 13,742,803 have recovered, 748,037 have died so far.
