Hinting over intensifying the protests in support of the workers against the Centre’s move to privatize the Visakhapatnam steel plant, Rajya Sabha MP V Vijayasai Reddy on Saturday commenced his 25-km-long ‘pada yatra’ from near Gandhi statue opposite the municipal corporation office in Visakhapatnam.
The Yatra that was kick-started two days after the state CM, YSRCP chief visited Vizag and held talks with steel plant’s employee unions. According to the route map released by the party, Vijayasai Reddy will cover Railway New Colony, Asilmetta, Marripalem, NAD Kotha Road, Thatichetlapalem, Sheela Nagar and Gajuwaka.
The Yatra witnessed an army of politicians, ministers, including Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao, Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Dharmana Krishna Das, and volunteers holding placards against the privatisation. The MP also urged all political parties to come together to fight against the privatization of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
