“Most grateful, your honour. It’s been seven-and-half years of absolute torture. I really appreciate it,” stated Congress MP Shashi Tharoor as Delhi court today of charges linked to the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar in 2014.
The veteran Congress leader, who was present at the virtual hearing took to his official social media handles his gratitude to Judge Geetanjali Goel for discharging him of the charges levied by the Delhi Police. To recollect, Sunanda Pushkar, 51, was found dead in a suite of a luxury hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014.

Followed by which, Shashi Tharoor was charged with abetment to suicide and cruelty by the Delhi Police. He was charge-sheeted by Delhi Police under Sections 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code(IPC). While a former union minister was currently on bail in the case.
After years of investigation by the police, the prosecution had failed to conclusively establish the cause of Ms Pushkar’s death, the court in today’s verdict.
